Dear Albert,
Thanks for writing! I'd be glad to see any pictures you have of
Steingasse, if and when it's convenient for you to send them.
When were you born (if you don't mind my asking)?
My mother's family (named Ziegler) owned Steingasse #9. They left at
the outbreak of WWI and went to Vienna. When they came back, squatters
were living in part of the house, and the squatters continued to live
there after the family's return. My mother was born in that house in
1918. In 1928, her mother took her and her brothers to American to
join their father. Steingasse #9 belonged to my mother's grandmother,
Raisel Ziegler, who continued to live in that house until she died (I
don't know exactly when, but I think in the late 1930s).
Were you alive then?
Nancy
