I don't remember exactly when in 1945, it may have been in the fall; but we=
 left for Poland, as "polish citizens" and ended up in Pabianice, a suburb =
of Lodz.

I am curious to know how many of us left Czernowitz in the summer of 1945
and how many left illegally previously. Does anyone know with certainty why
they opened the border for two or three days and let anyone who wanted to
leave, do so?=20
