Dear Gabriele,

The Czernowitz Jewish cemetery, is indeed completely neglected
and overgrown with weeds, bushes, creepers and seedling trees.
Even though I cannot as yet be absolutely certain of this,
I expect that SVIT Ukraine will have two work-camps this coming
summer to continue the work that was done last year.

Christian Hermann, Sasha Wolloch and I, have been working
on a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation and maintenance
of the cemetery. We are gathering information on the following:
1. The legal status of the cemetery.
2. Organizations which may provide financial assistance for this project.
3. Up to date information on how to combat invasive vegetation
   in the cemetery.
4. Ways of maintaining the cemetery at low cost.
5. Proper measures to be taken to erect stones which have fallen
   and to prevent others from falling.
6. Means of forming a non profit organization and fund for
   the restoration of the cemetery.
And many other aspects of this problem and its solution.

The three of us would very gladly welcome any members of the list,
who would like to join us, help with the necessary research and
the formulation of a comprehensive plan.
