Dear Cornel,
My family still lived in the "old Empire" and my mother's heart was
Austrian to the end, My father fought in the Emperor's army.
I don't know why but having been stationed as El Al in Vienna during
the Eichman trial and having rented half a villa from a woman who told
us 1) that her dead husband was a guest at the Wagner Festival 2) that
Austria was "occupied" by the Germans, my dream of Jews having been
freer under Austria than Rumania, I'd say "a curse on both their
houses".
Sorry I love my freedom too much.
Regards, Shabbat Shalom,
anny
