Dear Wolfi and members of the list,
Thanks for the information.
Sasha Wolloch is currently looking into the necessary steps for establishing
a non-profit organization to be registered in the state of Florida.
Our initial aim should be to determine whether there is a large enough
number of people interested in forming such an organization.
Next we should discuss and decide on the exact purpose, name, set-up,
by laws and elected officers of the organization. This could be done either
by correspondence through the Czernwitz-List, or within an Email group
established for this purpose. Initially our correspondence should be
by Email. Later, we may have to modify the means of communication.
One of us who is knowledgeable about such things could set up the Email
group. Some of you will remember that we had one for organizing the 2006
Czernowitz Reunion.
Next, we would actually establish the "Organization for the Restoration
and Maintenance of the Jewish Cemetery of Czernowitz/Chernivtsi".
(This is just a suggested name which could be abbreviated to "ORMJCC".)
Last, we would apply for non-profit status in the US and probably
international status as well.
I hope that all of you who are interested in restoring and maintaining
the Czernowitz cemetery, will respond to this letter by writing to
the whole list, so as to have an open and general discussion on this topic.
