[Cz-L] City Squares

In old times all the squares were markets. No place for lesiure or
entertainment.
 No monuments ,no ceremonies.No gardens or trees,only open space -later
stalls and booths.
  Buy and sell. Weekly ,daily bazaars.
   The biggest square was the Austriaplatz originally Holzmarkt -Timber
market.
    Then the Ringplatz from Rynokplatz i.e. Marketplace.
       Then the Fischplatz ,former Getreidemarkt -Grain market.
        Then the Mehlplatz the Flourmarket.
    But trading was going on ,on every street corner ,against city
regulations .
     Many jokes and stories were circulating on this :
      Policeman sees woman selling produce on forbidden street corner
,adresses her in
     official German : " Frau, hier handlen verboten, nehmen sie die Korbe
von hier."
     meaning " Woman take baskets from here ,trading here is forbidden".
      To this she retorts : " Jusku ,te ne znaysh mene . Ya jena twoya ".
       Meaning : Jusku ,you not know me, I am your wife ".
        Policeman : "Frau, Gesetz ist Gesetz ! " ( Woman, the law is the
law !)

       So far for markets and other squares.
