Hi Mimi My mum used the expression in your way too....maybe the usage
changed with time...grandma used it in a derogatory way and my mother was
trying to civilize me..a wasted effort!! Cornel

I remember "Kapusta mit kwass" being used in a different manner; when a
child said "wass" instead of saying "Bitte" meaning "what" instead of
"please", then it was told "Kapusta mit Kwass". Kapusta means cabbage.
