As most of you, I always conidered myself a Czerrnowitzer. Soaked in German culture with the added spice of Jewish and Roumanian.I loved and still love the richnes of Yidish. My father had an extensive Yidish library and he always added to it. As for German again as a child I was made to recite many of the Schillers poems ex: Die Burgschaft which I still remember. We also had 6 volumes of Graetz on Josefus Flavius antiquities and ongoing history of the Jewish People. I was fortunate to find an English volume in Australia as it it also a rare book and hard to get. I have many German books that remind me I once had a home and some Yidish books. As for Roumanian I agree with some of you it was due to its grammar a tremendous tool for English. I also aquired a love for English literature. Russian even though we had a short period of learning also left a impression to remember as it is still handy for fractured conversation with newcomers. I do remember
some poem of Taras Sewcenco and have the Russian booklet with the Fables by Lermontow in Russian. If people ask me how do you know all this I say with pride I come from a town that had a lively productive cultural life and I assume that many households were intent to inculcate in the mind of the child to love the book. As for Eminescu I live in Strada Eminescu.

                             I reminiscence yours   Fred Weisinger
