My deceased father was a member in a Jewish song
club in Czernowitz and knew Joseph Schmidt, who
was younger. I remember the excitement when we
listened in Czernowitz to his song Ein Lied geht
durch die Welt¨¨ and were singing or humming it.
We were all proud of his success.
