Hi,
As I told before, he was family -a little bit a Babes a Zwock -, he was my
uncle's nephew, Pinie Spektor, the beloved cantor of the Kor-Shil, was his
uncle. So I rub shoulders with the famous!!!
Schmid's greatest role was "Bajazzo", he sang it beautifully and his ugly
face made it most believable.
I could recognize his voice anywhere it was so beautiful. He either sang
in a synagogue or was cantor himself and all his songs had the softness and
beauty of prayers.
Regards,
anny
