If we are going to claim glory because of a connection to Joseph Schmidt,
then I want to claim my share too. My mother was born and lived till 1924 on
the Karolinengasse (currently Zankovetska) #4. This is the large apartment
house adjacent to the Tempel. My mother sang in the quire when Joseph
Schmidt was the cantor, I am not sure of the dates, but think it was in the
mid to late twenties. So, I know from my mother that he definitely was a
cantor at the tempel. He was also a neighbor, but I do not know whether he
lived in the same apartment house, or nearby.
