Hag Pesach Sameah!
I wish to tell to the members of the list, and answering also to Mr.Glyn
that I was a pupil in the Liceul de Fete Nr.2 from 1928 to 1936, when I did
my baccalaureat.I recognised your mother after the photo...You are right,
the building was on the left side, if you came from the Hauptstrasse,on the
corner to the Tuerkengasse. The school moved in the Siebenbuergerstrasse,,
after I left the school, it automn 1936
and is was named "Oltea Doamna" Dr.Sylvia Bala was the Directrice.
About the languages: all the objects were in roumanian, we were forb idden
to speek german in the recreations, in the courtyard...but we learned from
the first class latin and french., we read already in the 2.class Racine and
must learn "auswendig "La chanson de Roland". In the 5.class we began to
learn german language, what was for us a "Kinderspiel".Dr.Singer was our
teacher and we, who spoke german at home, must read Herman Hesse and do a
resumee...In the 6.class we must choose: for the 7and8.classes. the
litterary section( with latin, french, greek, psychlogy, and roumanian
literature and grammair, , for both sections, history of Roumania, or the
scientifique section. with mathematique, geometrie, physic, chemie), I
choose litterary. and at the bac, we had also latin and french...next time Y
will put on the fotolist my bac-certificate, with the notes for french and
latin.. Thanks for your patience, Hedwig Brenner
