Hardy, Czernowitzers and all...
Apropos "Bakshish"! Did you know, that in Czernowitz - as far as I know -
the first and only Bakshish Monument in the world has been inaugurated on
October 20, 2009? The location is/was Tuerkenbrunnenplatz. The name of the
sculptor is Anatolij Fedirko and the project has been conceived and
implemented by my friend, Dr. Sergij Osatschuk, the leading historian of the
Bukovina Center at the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. The
historic background for the monument was the incorporation of the former
Turkish Bukovina in the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy 225 years before
2009. I don't want to speculate, but I wouldn't exclude, that Bakshish
played a role for the approval of the location for Bakshish Monument too. I
have uploaded two pictures at our Ehpes.com Off-Topic Blog:
http://ehpes.com/blog1/2010/05/09/bakshish-monument-in-czernowitz/
Have a look and enjoy. Regarding the Bakshish question connected to Traian
Popovici and his administration, I fully agree with Hardy.
Best wishes to all of you!
