this is already a progress: they sell kvas in plastic cups.
In my times the sold kvas from the same trailes but in glas cups,
which were washed in water from an additional water tank
on the top of the kvas tank.
Whether it is unappetizing to get it "schank"ed out by a women vendor
is a matter of taste, same as a beer "schan"ed out by someone in a pub.
The taste of kvas is a little bit like the taste of malt beer.
On a hot summer day it was quite nice to drink a cold cup of kvas.
My parents did never drink it, but I did.
