In the summer , every day at noon sharp, the bugler climbs
the steps of the city hall tower ,sets his bearings, faces north
and plays the Marichka song.
He then repeats this procedure on the south side.
He has been doing this for years.
Marichka is a very old Ukrainean folk song and tells
about Marichka the girl and what happened to her.
To tell you the truth I have no idea what this song is about
so it is hard for me to explain but the music is nice.
The bugler plays only the opening bars so here is the song
as sung by Irina Bylik with the local fire brigade fanfare :
