During the recent correspondence about Cecina, I believe I wrote that Cecina
was not just a place, it was a concept, a way of life. The generation of
Czernowitzers born at the beginning of the 20th century were quite urban,
but they had a high regard for nature, "Frische Luft", hiking, skiing and
picknicking. Every Sunday they spent in the country. My parents also
regularly rented a room from a local family, who had a little girl my age
named Maria.
I sent some of my parents' photographs taken at Cecina to Jerome and he has
put them up on the "ehpes" website.
You can access them at:

Do any of you recognize anyone on the group photographs?
