As a child in Czernowitz, I did not own a copy of the brothers Grimm
stories, but I did have a beautifully illustrated book containing various
tales. One of them was of a Frau Wolke, in the sky, shaking her pillows
and it snowing on earth when she did so. The large pillows we used then, are
quite different from the ones used in most countries now. They measure
90cm x 90 cm and had concealed buttons on one side. They were not shaken,
but actually tossed and turned in the air three times. I still have two and
they are wonderful to sleep on when I have a cold.
