While I do not remember making my own ink, I do remember very well that it's
color was like Hardy describes, dark blue violet. Once I spilled it on my
pale blue coat and was afraid to go home. A girl in my class said her mother
would get the stain out, so we went to her house and the stain was dissolved
in milk. Just in case any of you need to remove Russian purple ink spots!
