Dear List-members,
Is there anybody in the group who has information about Mr. MICHAEL ROLL or
his descendents in Sydney, Australia?
He was one of the children on board the Viitorul ( see attached mail below).
I hope someone still keeps the book, or the yidish version mentioned in this
mail.
Perhaps the relevant parts can be scanned, posted, then translated, to the
benefit of all people interested in this subject.
Regards,
Irene , Haifa

The name SCHOENE EISENFELD rings a loud bell in my memory: The book ARK
ON THE SEA was written by a lady of the same name, originally in Yiddish.
It was translated into Hebrew and published, in (then) Palestine, in 1947.
It told of a group of refugees fleeing Czernowitz, in 1942, shipwrecked off
the Turkish coast, later reaching Cyprus and, eventually, Palestine in
(September ?) '44. I was a five year-old kid on that ship and I have the
Hebrew version of that book. I'd be delighted to be contacted by anyone who
was with me on that ill-fated ship VITORUL .
