The Ghetto of Czernowitz.

Who needed the Ghetto anyway ?
The Jews could have been deported right from their homes.
Moving them a few hundred yards closer to the station would
   not make big difference.
They could be deported successfully without the ghetto too.
There was a rumor that the Germans demanded this.
General Von Rundstedt , German commander of the S E front
demanded this, as the back of his army was unsafe with
so many hostile elements at loose.
So they should be confined and removed.
But the essence , in my opinion , was to degrade the Jews.
Jewish people cling to their homes , homes are security .
By uprooting them they were like fallen leaves.
       Thus easier to handle.
So they put up a Ghetto.
About the boundaries of which we argue.
