I would like to make a few clarifications regarding recent mail re
Balschgasse. Balschgasse was not a Sackgasse =93cul de sac,=94 nor was the
Verlaengerte Albertinengasse. The Balschgasse started at the bifurcation
between it and Heresculgasse, close to the Franzensgasse and ended at the
Residenzgasse. The Verlaengerte Albertinengasse is a new street, which was
opened from the Dreifaltigkeitsgasse just across from the Albertinengasse,
ending at the Balschgasse. It does not exist on the old maps. That is the
source of the name. Going from the Balsch- or Herescu- gasse and crossing
the Franzensgasse one entered the Franzosgasse, as it was called in my time=
.

There was also a Kindergarten in the Herescuschule and I went there as a
child. The Kindergaertnerin was Ms Cavulea, who lived in the Verlaengerte
Albertinengasse. At the beginning of the Balschgasse, there has been a
Tricotage factory owned by Itzy Roisner, who lived, if I well remember in
the Franzensgasse. Adjacent to our house was a house with a very big garden
and there lived a widow Ms Kula. I visited there often and played with her
grandson Gidi, a boy about my age. She had also 2 elder sons, which studies
abroad. Does someone have information about this family?

Re Henry=92s question. I think to have misunderstood him. He wanted to know
the name of the friend I found after 71 years and his name is Sigi Schapira=
.

Regards to all

Paul
