I was at the age of about 4 years. As I remember it, our family had planned
to try to cross the border illegally. One evening we put our few belongings
on a truck (me seating with my mother on the truck behind the drivers cabin)
and headed to the border. Arriving there we discovered that there are
soldiers (Rumanian? Russian?) there. We returned home and my father went to
work in the morning as usual. The next day we returned the same and
succeeded to cross and arrived to Seret. The reason for doing it illegally,
was that the Russian authorities demanded for everyone to enlist and my
father was sure that there will be executions according to those list.

We left Cz in the fall of 1945 for Poland. Ended up in Pabianitze, a suburb
of Lodz.Frieda
