There was some strange procedure which my step-grandmother made me go
through, I don't remember exactly how and what it was, it was something with
burning coals and ashes and whenever my grandmother made the diagnosis that
I was hit by the bad eye, I used to hide under the piano.
There was no way of escaping because if she couldn't find me, it only meant
a delay of a day or two. So there I was, a little lamb going to the
slaughter. No support from my mother either. She chose to keep the peace in
the family.
