According to my Babe, in Czernowitz you either spoke Yiddish or
Goyish.(Gentile)
 The local Ruthenians and Huzulis spoke goyish..
   My Babe spoke Goyish.
   Kurve was both goyish and yiddish.
    With time Ukrainean was instituted.
     In the East of Ukraina they speak Russian (40%)
       Kurva there is in daily speech.
         In the East as you remark ,it has always been.
          So with a" Kurve " you are never at a loss in our region.
