Hi Anna,
Here is the receipt, from mothers handwritten "Kochbuch"
1/ Dough: 250 gr. butter, 280 gr.flour,140 gr.sugar, 1 yolk, all mixed and
made a dough, divide in 3 parts, put for 1/2 hour in the frigidaire, with
the rolling pin make thin leafs in the form and baking very fast, at 200
degrees, take care, they are broking very easy
2/ Creme: One and a half glass powder-sugar with vanilla,one glass grind
nuts, one glass sauercream.
If it would be to liquid, put more nuts, depends on the creme.

You just described the Jewish Community of Vienna before the WWII. But that
is common knowledge.
What I want to know is more important. Anybody out there has the recipe for
the Schmettentorte?
I used to help with the manual labor (grounding the nuts and beating the
Schmettene) but never bothered to wright down the recipe. And now with my
mother and my aunt gone, there's nobody to ask.
So, P-L-E-A-S-E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
