Thank you for all your replies. The recipe does look familiar, except I remember that the sour cream was beaten and the trick was to stop before it turned into butter. My mother also added lemon zest and used confection sugar (sugar powder) so it will get dissolved faster. As I mentioned, I remember the steps, but not the proportions.
Now wish me luck. I may perfect it in time for the August reunion.
