Subject: Re: [Cz-L] The future of the Temple.
Some time ago, we had a discussion on the list about this subject.
ost of us agreed that there were not enough Jewish people living
n Chernivtsi, to have the "Tempel" returned to its use as a synagogue,
ut I think that Charles Rosner suggested that it could be made into
public building with a serious or solemn purpose, which would
lso include a Jewish museum, or at least a reminder of the original
se of the building.
hernivtsi is is a university town, currently the location of the =20
eridian
oetry festival and occasional academic conferences. If the" Tempel"
ere to be made into a large conference hall, the city would attract
ssorted conferences and benefit financially and we, who remember
he former use of this building would not feel insulted.
