Czernowitz Jews:
If you are old and sick and hungry - you are jewish to the bone.
You get the Hessed canteen and medical care and jewish holiday
celebrations.
You hold a little blue and white flag and drink israeli wine from a
plastic cup.
But if you are young and successful and look russian and have
blond children from your non jewish wife - being jewish could
only harm you.
You will not raise the flag of the glory that once was Czernowitz.
For this we still have old Czernowitzer overseas.

Hardy...
No doubt about, antisemitism could be one of the main reasons, on the other
hand, who knows, if the "glorious community" is still so glorious as it was
before, particularly before WW1? The lack of interest for the Jewish
Community could be as well the result of restrictions to religious issues,
not considering the spirit of the times and the current social and political
problems. I don't know exactly, just a guess!
Best for now!
