Hi all,
Pumphosen were worn, to start with, by motorcycle riders seen in German
films. I suppose young people wore them riding bikes as, as far as I
remember, there were no motorcycles in our city.
As for streetcars, tramvai, again my memory, from the "Maut" - I suppose
some city limits, before even my time!!- till the Prut. There was a Nr.1
and Nr.2. It ran all the way through the Siebenbuergerstr -Stefan cel Mare
- to the? I got off at the Gaenseheufel - Stranbad -. Then the conductor
took the "Kurbel" (control handle) went to the front and changed it to
Nr.2. On the Ringplatz the streetcars met and the one going down was Nr.1
and so they changed Nr. 1 to 2, there were 2 streetcars in the city.
As for buses, we had none. There was a Trolleybus running on electricity in
the Russische Gasse up to, I think Zezina. It was very quiet compared to
the noise of the "tramvai".
My memory might play tricks but I remember these very well. I don't
remember Pumphosen.
As for Andy, where you lived dear there were no noises. It was a very quiet
street one block away from the Siebenbuergerstr. and 2 away from the
Austriaplatz. I got my "famous" dog under the Russian occupation from one
house away from where you lived.
To all of you, A gitte Woch,
anny
