Hardy asked those who have been following your discourse but not
participating to make themselves known. I do so reluctantly because I do
not have any first hand knowledge, experience or history from Bukowina to
justify my participation or contribution. I learned of your blog from
Edgar Hauster.

My parents, Jakob Rudel and Josefine Sonnenblum Rudel, were born in Bojan
or Czernowitz in the 1880's and 90's but moved to Vienna during the First
World War. I was born in Vienna but my ancestors (last names Rudel,
Sonnenblum, Schleiss and Brender) were buried in Czernowitz.

My great-grandfather, Joel Sonnenblum owned the granary in Bojan - it was
destroyed in 1915 - and it is possible he was a part of the Ephrussi grain
shipping network (out of Odessa) that is described in Edmund de Waal's
book, "The Hare With Amber Eyes" .

If anyone has information that might connect with these meager facts, I
would be glad to be so informed.
