We should write "galotchka99" and ask her to also have her explanations
posted in English.
The recording is of Joseph Schmidt singing in the Temple in Berlin.
Not very traditional music. Does anyone know what version of the prayers
he sang in the temple in Czernowitz?
My mother, who was born in 1908 and was a neighbor of Schmidt, on
Karolinengasse #4, told me that she sang in the quire, when Schmidt was
the cantor at the Czernowitz Tempel next door.
This may have been as early as 1923 or as late as the early thirties.
