Hi Helen, hi Edgar,
Thanks for the excallant and explicit revew about the roumanian Jews,
deported from France and Belgium
I always asked why my cousin Dr.Edith Lettich, nee Agatstein , her husband
Dr.Aba Lettich with their 5 years old boy were deported from Tours,
France...She with the boy were gazed immediatly, arriving in Auschwitz, Aba
was physician of the Auschwitz camp and survived...Peter Elbow told me a
story that his father, refugee from Vienna to France, lived at the Lettichs
in Tours he was related to the Agatsteins...
A good friend in my tyouth, Willy Berler, was caught in Bruxelles, in 1942
(tillthan he worked as porter in the Marseille harbour, went with a bycicle
to Marseille, returned for his girlfriend, hiddenthan caught and sent to
Auschwitz, worked in the labor of Dr.Mengele ,,,went through 4 camps,
survived, returned to Belgium...I met him in 1959 when they let me traval
alone to London...He wrote a book about his camps, very interesting:"Journey
through Darkness", Ed.Valentine Mitchell, London/Portland,Or/2004.
Regards Hedwig
May be some of you know why Peter Elbau, from our list do not participate,
he was very active???
