Andy,
" There is a House in Czernowitz,
They call the rising fridge ".

The color picture is recent ,the BW too.
Roofs in Cz were all of sheet metal except those made of other material.
The sheet metal was brownish painted which merged beatifully with
the natural rust from former generations.
The new roof on the Fridge house is tin - shining and costly.
Getting onto a Cz roof was difficult and dangerous.
I have done it : Very slant and slippery, danger of falling in and
otherwise you had nothing to do there .
  Birds ,cats and spiders..
    But what a view !

Hardy

Hardy - do you have any idea when the picture was taken? That is a
relatively new roof on that mansion and I've never seen one like it. At
first glance I thought it might be slate but it has a sheen and reflects
light as some type of metal would. In the new world this type of roof would
be prohibitively expensive. Can you find out more about this house, its
history and especially about the roof?
