The name Chernivtsi is new and came into being with Ukr independence
20 years ago. Any young Ukrainean know no other name.
In 1908 it was Czernowitz.
If the correspondent calls it otherwise he probably doesnt know
any better.
But he refers to the same place,
Czern, Cernauti , Czernowitz, Cernauti, Chernovtsy,
Chernovitsy,Cernauti,
Chernivtsi.
These are the past official names.
In addition Polish, Slovak, Moravian versions and places with
similar names.
