Dear Cornel,
Please tell Jean to do the following:
----------------
Here's what she needs to do for openers:
JewishGen http://www.jewishgen.org/
She will receive a user name and password (no charge).
Register and then enter her information on the FamilyFinder (JGFF).
Then do a search in the FamilyFinder for other people researching
the same surnames and contact each and every one that is listed.
Also read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), which will give her
useful hints.
Look at the Yizkor book site - these Yizkor books were written
after WWII and often give a lot of information about cities and
towns where families lived - people often spot names and information
about their relatives: http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/
For Romanian research, take a look at the Romania SIG
(special interest group) site: http://www.jewishgen.org/ROMSIG/
& subscribe to the mailing list.
Take a look at the JewishGen Shtetlinks site:
http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/
Take a good, thorough look at the Czernowitz home page:
http://czernowitz.ehpes.com/
Subscribe to the mailing list (see the website for instructions).
Similarly, if you are relatively new to
Jewish family history research, you should search the JewishGen Discussion
Group
archives at http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~archpop and
the
JewishGen SIG Discussion Groups archives at
http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~sigspop
It's work, but she may well find (at least some of) what she is looking for.
Merle
