There was at a certain time (probably martial law immmediately after
the Rumanians took over in 1919) a law that limited the number of
people standing together to 2.
The story my father told was, that when the policeman on Ringplatz
addressed their group of 3 with the words:
Gehn Sie ausseinander! - the response was: Gehn Sie selber ausseinander!
The first ausseinander was for go-separate, the second for go yourself
asunder, devide into parts.
