Potcoave is Rumanian for horseshoes- Hufeisen in German.
Potcovar is the blacksmith,
Probably also in Cz. local Ruthenian as Pitkove,
From here the way to Yiddish is very short.
We used to play a game with broken -off horseshoe nails,
we called it Stollen( german for horseshoe nails).

Hi, food experts!

Do you know what PITKOWES are/is?

I've found this word in a letter from 1918 .

Is it this P'tcha ( how does this sound like) you wrote about?
