I never put butter into the mixture, you can put butter on the bread and
upon povidla...and sugar?
if the plums are very sweet, no need of sugar

As far as I remember, in my family, no butter was added to the Povidla.
I do not know the proportion of fruit to sugar, but 6:1, sounds to me
like too little sugar.
