I am the second generation. My parents passed away and I never lived in Czernowitz. Yet in a subtle way, my parents left me with an attachment to the place they grew up in. I visited Czernowitz last month and found my parents' homes, schools and places of work- I wanted to see what it must have been like for them. I shared the experience and photos with my brother and cousins and their children. I cook Puerogen, Knoedel and MItitei for my family. I speak Czernowitzer German. A lot is left!
