The on-going school discussion on the list has been incredibly
informative and rich. It is amazing the amount Marianne and I have
learned from your thoughtful and detailed postings. So much about the
texture about everyday life in Cernauti in the 1920s and 1930s --
about inter-ethnic and class relations as well as efforts to cope and
adjust to a political and social environment that was growing ever
more ominous -- all of these emerge with nuance but also with passion
from your fascinating memories and class photos. We are immensely
grateful to all of you who have been involved in this collective
project! Thank you.
