Shalom Avi,
I think the main reason Prof. Yavetz did not mention "Der Tag" is the fact
that this newspaper, as you know, ended it's short life on July 21, 1935 (
that is "tomorrow" !).
Zwi Yavetz was 10 years old in 1935 .
So he probably never read or saw "Der Tag" during his youth in Czernowitz .
As he told , he read the "Allgemeine" and the "Morgenblatt " because of his
interest in the Sports-News.
Those newspapers appeared till 1940.
He was 15 years old by then.
"Der Tag" called itself un "independent democratic organ for the interest of
Czenowitz, Bucovina and the Kingdom ( of Romania)".
You can read about the press in Czernowitz here:

Hi,
I just finished the book "My Czernowitz" by Prop. Yavets.
There is a special chapter for the Czernowitz newspapers. Der Tag is not
mentioned.
he mentioned:
Die Algemeinen Zeitung
Czernowitzer Tagblatt
Morgenblatt
Extrablatt
Abendblatt
Die Ostjudische Zeitung
These were newspapers in German language.
can any body give a reason? what was the Der Tag" distribution relative to
the other?
What was the ideology of this news paper - Zionist? left wing? revisionists?
thanks
Avi Raanan
