The Christian cemetery across from the Jewish cemetery is kept cleaner
partially because the relatives of those interred there, still live
in the area
and regularly come to clear weeds and invasive trees and bushes
around the graves of their relatives and friends.
The other reason is the way the cemetery administration organizes
the work at the two cemeteries; since the Christian cemetery is larger
than the Jewish one, the cemetery workers work three or four days a week
at the Christian cemetery and two days a week at the Jewish one.
If on a given day when the workers are supposed to work
at the Jewish cemetery, it rains and they cannot work,
they do not compensate for it later.

Dr. Bursuk has asked a number of times that the work at the two
cemeteries
be divided in a different manner, for instance: if there are a total
of six cemetery employees, let four work at all times at the
Christian cemetery
and let two work at all times at the Jewish cemetery.

For quite some time now, Chernivtsi has not had an elected major
and the temporary majors or other temporary officials
either do not have the power or the will to do anything.
