1. Grimm stories are a collection of old German fairy tales .
2. Struwelpeter too (I think)
3. Erich Kastner for the young except "Fabian."
4. Karl May who wrote about America an Arabia but never left Germany.
5. Morgenstern wrote the most delicious absurd"Gallow songs"
6. What about Tucholsky ? Marzel Salzer ? Busch ?
7. Many non- German writers ( amazingly- there were some!)
