Well, Hardy.  It sounds like you were speculating on how to clean the tombstones.  I think we should wait for the experts to answer the question so we have the facts.

 Is it possible that there is a simpler explanation.
 Maybe a group of Jews from a part of Buczacz travelled to
 the area you are referring to and established the section
 using the same name as the one they came from?
