My husband's family is Brotman. They emigrated from this area to Canada,
western Canada. Cyril Leonhoff, his mother was a Brotman, is a historian of
jewish history of British Columbia and has written a book on the jews of
Vancouver, including a picture of my husband's grandfather Moses (Mo)
Brotman. It was a big family. I don't know if this is helpful. Cyril is
elderly, and hard of hearing. But you can find his book, probably on
Amazon.

There were in Czernowitz both Brotman and Brautman families.
I do not know of any Brutman.
One of my high-school friends in Israel was a Matityahu Brotman who changed
his last name to "Lachmi"
Last I heard about him, he was on the faculty of the Chemistry Dept.
at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva in Israel.
By now he is 76 years old and is probably retired.
