There are other connections between Montevideo, the Rio de la Plata
and Czernowitz;
1. Every Czernowitzer read Karl Mai, in who's books the Rio de la Plata
played a major role. Uruguay had a reputation of being very civilized
and it was possible to get a visa to settle there.
