Hardy...,
   Here we have the opposite problem. So many people don't speak English
and the government and corporations are turning this country inti a
bi-lingual nation by having all documents and written and verbal
instructions given in English and Spanish.
This encourages immigrants NOT to learn English and NOT to teach it to
their children, so our schools have to do that.
Millions of our immigrants are tied to low paying jobs or unemployment
because they can't read or write English.
Maybe Romania had the better idea. "Now that your living in Romania you
must learn to speak Romanian or you can't get or keep a good job".
If our government ruled that, you would see how fast our impoverished
immigrants would learn to speak English. But instead,our government
encourages our immigrants to retain their native language....and stay poor.
