Dear Asher, I could have written a whole, long story about my attempt to recover my Romanian citizenship.
In a nutshell, I can tell you that I paid $50.00, had direct, very polite conversation with the Romanian Ambassador and his right hand, sent them all 3 passports where it is noted that I was born in Romania, my book published in Bucharest, and the list of orphans repatriated from Transnistria to Romania.

Nothing was enough; they insisted on seeing a birth certificate. Sasha Volloch was kind enough to search in the archives in Czernowitz, but no certificate was to be found.

I even wrote a letter to the then president Bashescu, but never heard from him.

At this point I gave up.

Good luck to you!
