Tobias...

First of all welcome to the List! I'm positive the links mentioned by Bruce will be helpful to you. In addition please check the "Book of the Month, October 2016", released earlier today:

http://czernowitzbook.blogspot.de/2016/10/czernowitz-cernauti-cernivci-what-is-to.html

On page 15/94 you'll discover Samuel Grauer as a resident of a house on Rathausstraße - Regina Maria - Holovna. It might be the very same Samuel Grauer you are looking for.

Warmest wishes and success for your research!

Edgar Hauster

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for joining. I’m sure some members can help. Here’s a start.

Vital records for Czernowitz are mostly still intact and kept at the
Oblast Archives in Czernowitz. All Jewish records were microfilmed by the
LDS Family History Library some years ago. A group led by Daniel Horowitz
indexed these records and you can access that index here:

http://microtarget.com/czernowitz/CzernowitzBMDindex.htm

There are over 100 listings for the name GRAUER. Check variant spellings,
too.

Other useful resources:
http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/sadgura/ReischToronto.html
http://czernowitz.blogspot.com

Many others as well; I’m sure you’ll receive additional suggestions.

Best of luck to you!
