So sad to read the news of Aharon Appelfeld's passing.

His remarkable piece in the November 23m 1998 New Yorker ... "Buried
Homeland" was the first article that I read about the Holcaust in
Romania and started me to think about researching my family roots, as my
grandfather would say nothing about it. May his memory always be a blessing.
